John is a trial lawyer who specializes in computer and technology related litigation in both State and
Federal Court. His primary focus and experience concerns software license disputes, copyright, trademark,
and unfair and deceptive trade practices. Additionally, John has successfully handled Internet domain name
dispute arbitrations.
After graduating from law school, John was accepted to the Texas Attorney General’s
Honors Program where he served as an Assistant Attorney General in both the
Cyber Crimes Unit, a criminal division specialized in battling Internet crimes, and
the Internet Enforcement Unit, a civil division specialized in enforcing Internet
offences including spam, spyware and deceptive trade practices. During his career
with the Office of the Attorney General, John first-chaired four jury trials in state
district court to a successful verdict.
Prior to entering law school, John worked three years in the industry at Lucent Technologies. As a network
consultant, John was charged with the implementation of large scale data networks, where he mastered
the “fundamentals” of network and Internet technology. At Lucent, he received the highest consulting award
for his accomplishments.
In his other lives, John enjoys writing and performing music in his band, “San Saba County,” which has
enjoyed showcasing at Austin’s famed South by Southwest Music festival. John is also a private pilot currently
working on his instrument rating.
