Qui Tam & Whistle-blower Litigation

PHMY attorneys are committed to representing companies and private citizens who want to assist the government (and the rest of us) in combating fraud.

All taxpayers, including private businesses and individuals, are harmed when their hard-earned tax dollars are ripped off by those who defraud the federal or state government. Fraud costs our state and nation billions of dollars each year, so, all of us have a civic duty to blow the whistle when we see our government lose our tax dollars due to unscrupulous claims. The United States Congress and our state legislature have designed specific methods for individuals to recover much of these illegally diverted monies for and on behalf of the government through “qui tam” lawsuits.

Qui tam lawsuits brought under both the Federal False Claims Act and the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act enable patriotic citizens to aid the government in recovering fraud losses and also permit whistle-blowers to receive substantial financial awards for their action. The Acts enable private citizens with evidence of certain types of fraud to file a lawsuit on behalf of the government to recoup stolen funds and offer the whistle-blower up to 30% of the government’s recovery for his or her risk and efforts. The U.S. government has recovered over $20 billion in False Claims Act cases over the past 20 years as a result of these qui tam suits.

PHMY represents a variety of clients who have credible information pointing to millions of dollars in health care and/or defense contract fraud upon Texas or the United States. Most important, we know how to file a qui tam suit and where to file it. PHMY has unique resources to get the job done, including a broad range of contacts with numerous federal agencies, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Texas Attorney General’s Office, as well as an extensive network of alliances with successful qui tam law firms throughout the United States. In short, we know how to fight fraud and we are willing to invest the resources and time to win the case for you and our government.
