Bio
Shelayne’s practice centers on litigation and appellate support for cases ranging from oil and gas rights to legal malpractice. She prepares pleadings, briefs, and motions, calling on her prior experience as briefing attorney for Chief Justice Alma Lopez at the Fourth Court of Appeals. Prior to joining PHMY, Shelayne was inhouse counsel for Harland Clarke Holdings Corp., focusing on regulatory compliance, data security and privacy, commercial and consumer law, as well as litigation. She supported the organization’s largest financial services clients and earned Harland Clarke’s prestigious Pillar of Excellence Award for Trust and Integrity.
During law school, Shelayne served as the Executive Editor of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. She was on the Board of Advocates, a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, participated in the moot court External Advocacy Program, and served as Judicial Intern for the Honorable Emilio M. Garza of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.
Prior to law school, Shelayne was a successful business executive in the software development and technology industry, where she went on to become a member of the senior management team at Valero Energy Corporation.
Shelayne enjoys community service, a good round of golf, and live music.
